Neon is the 4th most abundant element in the universe but only 0.0018% of the Earth's atmosphere is neon. It is used to make high voltage indicators and combine with helium to make lasers. It's very inert and doesn't forms any known compounds but there are some evidence that it could form a compound with flourine.

Neon is located in the Nobal Gas which is in Period 2 and Group 18. It is an nonmetal which means it is an poor conductor of heat and electricity. Like all Nobal Gases, it has a full valence of electrons which is why it's not found in compounds in nature.
